Antique Desks
The earliest of antique desks as we know them today were primarily used in monasteries and places of learning, this was long before the printing press and books were written on parchment.
These antique desks were mainly of the sloping top type, similar to the Victorian clerks antiques desks. Over the years and with the introduction of printing, books began to become more plentiful, which shaped the future of antique desks.
The antique desks we are more familiar with today orginated in the 17th and 18th centuries, they come in many types and designs, from the smallest writing slope antique desks, not forgetting mass produced rolltop antique desks full of small compartments and filling space for correspondence and documents.
