Antique Writing Tables

Antique Writing Tables
Until the mid-17th century furniture used for writing was rather primitive. The first form of furniture specifically made for writing came from French and Italian designs of the 16th century, and took the form of a bureau type fall front cabinet known today as a secretaire.
The antique writing table that we know today seems to appear around the end of the George II reign circa 1755.
We tend to sell mainly Willam IV antique writing tables to Victorian writing tables and Edwardian writing tables.
