SOLD --- ANTIQUE - 18TH CENTURY ELM AND OAK COUNTRY DRESSER --- SOLD
Quantity:
A well proportioned elm and oak dresser of mid to third quarter of the 18th century. Note that the drawers are cock-beaded and cross banded with straight grained oak. The single plank elm top has a piece let in to the left hand side. The central apron reflects a form of earlier origin in the single reversed arch, having an inlaid star decoration of ebony and boxwood. This type of inlay is found on other furniture of the second quarter of the 18th century and continued in country use until later. The whole form sits on cabriole legs to the front and straight rectangular to the rear. Old repairs, restoration and evidence of woodworm, treated.
Jug not included.
